Here is an outreach video I made about Newton's Law of Inertia in weightlessness! Hopefully other teachers can use in their classrooms and who doesn't love Angry Birds!

Video of liquids being absorbed in Zero G!
Here is a video of our fabrics interacting with liquids in Zero G!
Clean up in Zero G!
Our 6th grade students at Northland Prep had an experiment that was selected by the NASA Teaching From Space program to fly in weightlessness on the Zero G plane. Students collected all the ground data on the absorbency of different fabrics when water and a simulated blood were squirted at them. Cotton and microfiber were REALLY close, but microfiber absorbed the most in both environments. Now that we have tested an experiment in Zero G it only makes sense we try for the real thing in space!

Spartan Space Race Blasts Off!

Welcome to the Spartan Space Race! We want Flagstaff to be the first city in Arizona to send a student experiment up to the International Space Station to be carried out by astronauts! We are currently fundraising to secure a spot for a student experiment at Northland Prep. However, once school starts we want to BLAST OFF by helping our students design experiments and proposals to support their investigations for space.
Every little bit helps so if you would like to be a sponsor check out our crowd funding site below. You can also drop off donations to the school or the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce. Everyone who donates will receive a student designed mission patch and other goodies as we progress to our launch goal in the summer of 2014. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! kheins@northlandprep.org
